FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is aimed at reducing the impact of flooding on private and public structures, by providing affordable insurance for property owners and by encouraging communities to adopt and enforce floodplain management regulations.  These efforts help mitigate the effects of flooding on new and improved structures.

The City of Casper is one of 20,000 communities that participate in the NFIP by adopting and enforcing floodplain management ordinances to reduce the risk of flooding.  As a result of that participation, the NFIP makes federally-backed flood insurance available to homeowners, renters, and business owners in our community.
