City seeks applicants for Council

Casper’s Council for People with Disabilities (CCPD) is accepting applications from interested citizens who wish to serve as volunteer members of the CCPD.  “The  mission of Casper’s Council for People with Disabilities is to be an educational and solution-oriented advisory board serving as a catalyst for promoting self-advocacy, equality, accessibility, and opportunity for all people, regardless of their disability,” explained Zulima Lopez, City staff representative.

Casper’s Council for People with Disabilities is comprised of between 14 and 16 volunteer citizens of Casper who are appointed by the City Council and serve three-year terms.  Meetings are held at 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of every month at Casper’s City Hall, located at 200 North David Street. Members may also join the meetings via Skype.

According to Lopez, the ideal candidates are Casper residents with disabilities who are community-oriented and willing to be active members of a dynamic and diverse team.  “Caretakers, family members, or legal guardians of persons with disabilities are also strongly encouraged to apply,” said Lopez.  People interested in applying are invited to submit the attached application outlining relevant experience and explaining why they are interested in serving.
